ماذا حدث
On 26 October Aviva Investors and Ripple announced a tokenised share class of the Aviva Investors Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger. It is the firm's largest fund, about £22 billion. Aviva invested £50 million in the new class.
لماذا يهمك
This is a money market fund: short, high-grade sterling debt and daily access to cash. The token carries the same protection and risk as the regular fund, but lives on a blockchain. Big asset managers keep doing this, and the XRP Ledger gains another traditional finance user.
ماذا تتحقق منه وتراقبه
Watch how much money flows into tokenised classes beyond Aviva's own. Not everyone can buy: you need to be an eligible investor with a digital wallet. This is not advice to buy or sell.
What happened. Aviva Investors, the asset manager of insurer Aviva plc, and Ripple launched a tokenised share class of the Aviva Investors Sterling (GBP) Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger. It is the firm's largest fund, with about £22 billion under management.
What the fund is. It is an Ireland-domiciled UCITS money market fund, first launched in 2002. It holds high-grade short-term sterling debt and offers daily liquidity. The companies say the tokenised class has the same objective, risk profile and regulatory protections as the conventional one.
The numbers. Aviva put £50 million ($66 million) into the new class. Its two tokenised share classes now hold more than £86 million ($116 million). The first was for the USD Liquidity Fund in July 2026. Aviva Investors says this makes it one of Europe's largest providers of tokenised money market funds.
Who is involved. Komainu provides digital asset custody and Licuido the tokenisation platform. The fund's assets are held by The Bank of New York Mellon. The class is open to eligible investors with digital wallets, not to everyone.
Note: this is not buying XRP. The fund uses the blockchain to issue and record shares, not to invest in crypto. XRP price on Freekonomist: https://freekonomist.com/en/crypto/xrp/.
