ماذا حدث
Tether published its reserves report as of 30 September on 30 October, prepared by accounting firm BDO. Assets are $191.5 billion, liabilities $183.5 billion. The gap, the buffer on top, is $7.95 billion versus $4.1 billion at the end of Q2.
لماذا يهمك
USDT is the largest stablecoin, used for payments and trading on almost every exchange. A bigger reserve buffer makes it easier to pay out redemptions on a hard day. Q3 profit was $1.5 billion, mostly from US Treasury bills.
ماذا تتحقق منه وتراقبه
This is an attestation for one date, not a full audit of the accounts, as Investing.com also notes. The next report covers Q4. This is an overview, not financial advice.
What happened. On 30 October Tether published its report on the reserves backing USDT. BDO prepared it, and it shows the position as of 30 September 2026.
The key numbers. Total assets are $191.45 billion. Liabilities are $183.50 billion, of which $183.47 billion are tokens issued. Assets exceed liabilities by $7.95 billion. At the end of Q2 that buffer was $4.1 billion, so it grew by $3.8 billion.
Where the money comes from. Net operating profit was $1.5 billion in Q3, the same as the quarter before, and $4.5 billion over the first nine months of 2026. Most income comes from US Treasury bills and reverse repo deals. Direct and indirect T-bill holdings total $132.4 billion.
How much USDT is out there. The company says USDT issuance held at about $184 billion across the first three quarters, despite market swings.
Why it matters to you. If you hold USDT or trade pairs against it, what backs it matters. A buffer above liabilities is a cushion for mass redemptions. That is our reading, not a guarantee: the report shows one date, not everything in between.
What we don't know. This is an attestation, not a full financial audit. How reserves changed after 30 September. How much of the buffer sits in less liquid assets: the press release has no breakdown, the BDO report itself does.
