The German labour ministry expects statutory pensions to rise 4.09% on July 1, 2027. That comes from a draft of the government's pension insurance report, seen by the newspaper FAZ. The figure is provisional.
Por qué te importa
The rise covers about 21 million pensioners. A standard gross pension would go from 1,913 to 1,992 euros a month. German inflation was 2.8% in October, so the rise would beat current prices. But health and care insurance contributions come out of a pension, so the net gain is smaller.
Qué revisar y vigilar
Watch March 2027, when the ministry sets the exact figure from final data. Until then, watch inflation.

What happened. The German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs expects statutory pensions to rise 4.09% on July 1, 2027. This comes from a draft of the government's 2026 pension insurance report. The document, about 80 pages long, was seen by the newspaper FAZ.
What it means in money. A standard gross pension (average earnings and 45 years of contributions) would go from 1,913 to 1,992 euros a month. For comparison, on July 1, 2026 pensions rose 4.24%, and the current pension value went from 40.79 to 42.52 euros. A standard pension gained 77.85 euros a month then.
Where the rise comes from. German pensions follow wages. On top of that, a 2025 law holds the pension level at 48% until July 1, 2031. This holding line switches off the drag that demographic change and fewer workers put on the pension rise.
What about inflation. Destatis, the federal statistics office, estimates provisionally that prices in October 2026 were 2.8% higher than a year earlier, and 2.1% higher without food and energy. The pension forecast is above that. But the comparison is rough: the pension rise lands in July 2027, while we know inflation only for October 2026. Also, health and care insurance contributions, and sometimes tax, are taken out of a pension, so less reaches the account.
The cost for workers. The pension insurance contribution rate stays at 18.6% of gross pay in 2027. In 2028 it goes up by 1.1 points to 19.7%.
Why the number may change. Forecasts for 2027 have been falling. The 2025 report gave 4.75% in its middle variant, and the spring estimate of the pension fund DRV Bund was 4.4%. The ministry sets the final value in March, when the final statistics are ready.
