The fiscal 2027 outlook: revenue and earnings per share growing at a "low double-digit" rate, roughly 10 to 13%. Investors wanted more. Watch Mastercard's report next. Not advice to buy or sell.
What happened. After the market close on 27 October Visa reported results for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, which ended on 30 September. Revenue was $12.1 billion, up 13% from a year earlier. GAAP net income was $6.0 billion, or $3.19 a share. Adjusted net income, which leaves out one-off items, was $6.6 billion, or $3.48 a share, up 17%.
Against forecasts. Investing.com reports analysts expected $3.44 a share and revenue of $12.09 billion. Profit came in a little above forecast, revenue almost exactly on it.
Inside the numbers. Payments volume rose 9% in constant dollars. Cross-border volume, payments where the card and the shop are in different countries, rose 14%. Visa processed 74.2 billion transactions, up 10%. For the full year revenue was $45.9 billion, up 15%.
Cash for shareholders. The quarterly dividend rises 16% to $0.78, paid on 1 December to holders on record on 10 November. Over the year Visa spent $25.6 billion on buybacks and dividends. It had $24.4 billion left for buybacks as of 30 September.
Why the stock fell. Investing.com reports the shares lost 2.3% after hours. Visa expects fiscal 2027 revenue to grow at a "low double-digit" rate, and adjusted earnings per share at a low double-digit to low-teens rate. Investors read that as cautious. The earnings release itself has no outlook numbers; the company gave them on its call with analysts.
