Por qué te importa

The biggest monthly drop came from motor fuel: minus 9.7%. Over the year it is still 21.7% pricier. Food prices barely moved on the year. Inflation fell to the top edge of the central bank's target: 2.5% plus or minus 1 point.

Qué revisar y vigilar

The full October inflation data, which will refine the flash estimate, and the next decisions by Poland's central bank. This is an overview, not a forecast or financial advice.

What happened. On 30 October Statistics Poland (GUS) published its flash estimate for October 2026. Consumer prices rose 3.5% from October last year. In September the rate was 4.1%. Compared with September, prices fell 0.4%.

Expectations. Per Investing.com, the market forecast was 3.7%. So inflation slowed more than expected.

What's inside. Fuel for personal transport fell 9.7% on the month but is still up 21.7% on the year. Electricity, gas and other household fuels rose 1.6% on the month and 6.0% on the year. Food and non-alcoholic drinks rose 0.3% on the month and fell 0.1% on the year.

The central bank's target. The National Bank of Poland aims for 2.5% with a 1 point band either side. At 3.5%, inflation sits right on the top edge of that band. In September it was above it.

Why it matters to you. When inflation slows faster than expected, a central bank gets more room on rates. That can move the zloty and Polish bonds. That is our reading, not a forecast.

What we don't know. How much the figure changes in the full data. Whether fuel keeps getting cheaper. How the central bank reads these numbers.
