O que aconteceu
Asset manager Janus Henderson and tokenization platform Centrifuge announced JQQQ. It is a fund issued directly on the Stellar blockchain that seeks to track the Nasdaq-100 under a license from Nasdaq. The companies call it the first such fund sponsored by the issuer itself.
Por que importa para você
Tokenization moves ordinary assets onto a blockchain. Until now that meant mostly US Treasuries and money market funds, now it is the index of the biggest tech companies. Regular investors cannot buy it yet: only professionals outside the US, with a 100,000 USDC minimum according to The Defiant.
O que conferir e observar
When subscriptions open: The Defiant says the Centrifuge portal still shows them closed. Whether JQQQ discloses fees and allows secondary trading. This is not advice to buy or sell.
What happened. Janus Henderson, which manages about half a trillion dollars, and Centrifuge, a platform for tokenizing real-world assets, announced the launch of JQQQ. The fund seeks to track the Nasdaq-100 Index under a license from Nasdaq. The companies call JQQQ the first blockchain-native fund on this index offered through an issuer-sponsored strategy.
What blockchain-native means. The fund is not a wrapper around an existing ETF: its shares are issued and run onchain from the start. The partners say this could let them plug into other onchain apps and possibly serve as collateral. The Defiant notes such uses remain conditional.
Who can buy. The fund is not available to US persons. JQQQ is a segregated portfolio of Anemoy Capital SPC Limited, a British Virgin Islands company. It gives indirect economic exposure to the index and does not make holders shareholders of the Nasdaq-100 companies. According to The Defiant, the minimum is 100,000 USDC and subscriptions on the Centrifuge portal are not open yet.
Why Stellar. The fund launches only on Stellar. The press release says real-world assets on the network passed $4 billion in 2026. Cointelegraph, citing RWA.xyz, ranks Stellar fourth by tokenized assets after Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana.
What it means for Janus Henderson. Head of Innovation Nick Cherney said the firm's onchain platform already holds more than $1 billion in institutional strategies across US Treasuries, structured credit and now public equities. Cointelegraph notes that Nasdaq widened licensing of the index to other asset managers in April.
What we do not know. Fees and the subscription opening date are not disclosed. XLM traded near $0.17 on Tuesday, according to Cointelegraph. This is not advice to buy or sell.
