O que aconteceu

Jio Platforms, the telecom and digital arm of Reliance Industries, is due to list on the NSE and BSE on Wednesday 28 October 2026, at 10:00 India time (04:30 UTC). The date is tentative. The ₹30,213 crore issue is all new shares at ₹1,065 to ₹1,119, 12 per lot. Bids reached 22.19 times the shares offered.

Por que importa para você

It is the largest public issue in India's history. At the top of the band Outlook Money values Jio at about $108 billion. The BBC reported that foreign investors had been pulling money out of India.

O que conferir e observar

The opening price is set by matching orders from 9:45 to 9:55 India time. Check the exchange notice for the final date. The grey market premium (GMP) is unofficial, not a forecast. Strong demand does not promise a day-one rise. Not advice to buy or sell.

What is happening. Jio Platforms is the digital and telecom arm of Reliance Industries, led by Mukesh Ambani. Its shares are scheduled to list on the NSE (National Stock Exchange of India) and the BSE on Wednesday 28 October 2026, at 10:00 India time, says Mint. The prospectus we read gives the issue dates and names the NSE as the designated exchange, but it has no listing date. Treat the date as tentative until the exchanges confirm it.

The numbers. The price band was ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share and a lot is 12 shares, so one lot at the top price costs ₹13,428. The issue is ₹30,213 crore. A crore is 10 million, so that is about ₹302 billion. It is all new shares, up to 270 million, with no sale of shares by Reliance, Meta or Google. At ₹1,119 Outlook Money puts the company's value at ₹10.30 lakh crore (a lakh crore is a trillion rupees), about $108 billion.

How the first price is set. Listing day starts with a special pre-open session from 9:00 to 9:45 India time. From 9:45 to 9:55 the exchange matches orders and finds the opening price. After a five-minute buffer, trading starts at 10:00, according to Mint. The grey market premium (GMP) is an unofficial price for shares that are not yet listed. Outlook Money notes it can change and does not guarantee gains. We do not use it as a forecast.

How demand looked. By the close on 23 October the issue was 22.19 times subscribed, per NSE data quoted by Outlook Money: bids for more than 4.38 billion shares against 197.50 million on offer. Institutional buyers (QIBs) asked for 70.55 times their share, the non-institutional segment 14 times and retail investors 2.72 times. The issue drew more than 10 million applications.

Why it matters outside India. It is the largest public issue in India's history. Hyundai Motor India held the earlier record. For the Reliance group it is the first IPO since Reliance Petroleum in 2006, says the Economic Times. Outlook Money says Jio became the first company in the world to get more than 10 million applications from individual investors. The BBC says Indians are the world's largest users of mobile data, driven largely by Jio's cheap tariffs. None of the sources we opened ranks this issue among the world's largest IPOs, so we make no such comparison.

Use of money and context. Up to ₹27,500 crore repays borrowings of Reliance Jio Infocomm, the operating subsidiary. The rest is for general corporate purposes. In June the BBC reported that foreign investors had pulled billions of dollars out of India and that dozens of high-profile IPOs trade below their listing prices.
