O que aconteceu
On October 28, DTCC, the main settlement hub for US stocks and bonds, launched its tokenization service, DTS. On November 3, Morgan Stanley said it was among the first banks to use it to turn US stocks and Treasuries into tokens. Twenty firms have signed up so far, including J.P. Morgan, Citi, Bank of America and Fidelity.
Por que importa para você
This is not another crypto startup, it is Wall Street's own plumbing. A token here is a digital twin of a normal security with the same owner rights. It can be sent to a wallet and moved quickly as collateral. Traditional markets and blockchains are starting to work together.
O que conferir e observar
DTCC plans to add more blockchains in 2027. Morgan Stanley is preparing a venue for trading tokenized stocks, targeted for Q1 2027 per crypto.news. This is an overview, not advice.

What happened. The Depository Trust Company, a DTCC subsidiary, launched the DTCC Tokenization Service (DTS) on October 28, 2026. DTCC settles most US stock and bond trades, and DTC holds more than $114 trillion in assets. On November 3, Morgan Stanley said on X that it was among the first banks to convert US equities and Treasuries into tokenized form through DTS.
How it works. DTC mints tokens for securities it already holds. DTCC says the tokens keep the owner rights, investor protections and payouts of the original. A security can be switched to a token and back, and sent to a digital wallet of choice. The service runs on the Canton Network and DTCC's private Besu network, with more blockchains due in 2027.
What can be tokenized. In December 2025 the US Securities and Exchange Commission gave DTC a no-action letter. It allows tokenizing Russell 1000 stocks, ETFs that track major indexes, and US Treasuries.
Who is in. Twenty DTC participants have signed up, among them Barclays, Bank of America, BNP Paribas, Citadel Securities, Citi, Fidelity, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, State Street and UBS. Amy Oldenburg, Morgan Stanley's head of digital assets strategy, said the hands-on experience will shape the bank's digital asset work (CoinDesk).
Who this affects. Regular investors cannot buy these tokens directly yet: banks and brokers use the service. But they are the ones who build products for clients. Separately, Morgan Stanley is preparing an alternative trading system (ATS) for tokenized stocks, targeted for Q1 2027 per crypto.news. It has not launched.
What we do not know. How much Morgan Stanley has tokenized so far. When the bank's clients get access. Which blockchains will be added in 2027.
