发生了什么
On 20 October FINMA, Switzerland's financial regulator, approved the first exchange-traded fund (ETF) for retail investors that invests directly in bitcoin. It did not name the fund or the company behind it. Other providers have filed or announced applications too.

An ETF trades on an exchange like a normal stock. You can get bitcoin exposure through a broker, without your own wallet or keys. Sellers must warn you about the risks and check the product suits you. Bitcoin's price does not get any calmer, though.
要核实和关注什么
Watch for the issuer's name, the listing date and the fee. FINMA says it plainly: even through an ETF, bitcoin is highly risky and you can lose a large part of your money.
What was approved. FINMA says it is the first Swiss retail fund that invests directly in bitcoin. Under Swiss law it is an "other fund for alternative investments" with a specific risk. Funds normally have to spread money across different assets. This one got an exemption, because bitcoin has a long trading history and very high volume compared with other cryptocurrencies.
How this differs from before. In 2021 FINMA approved a crypto fund, but only for qualified investors, and it held a basket of coins rather than bitcoin alone. Crypto exchange-traded products already list in Switzerland, but as Decrypt explains, they count as structured products. The new one is set up as an actual investment fund.
What protections apply. Firms supervised by FINMA must cut operational and custody risks under guidance published on 12 January 2026. Per Decrypt, that guidance generally has a Swiss custodian bank hold the fund's bitcoin, and any other custodian must offer the same protection if it goes bust. Sales fall under the Financial Services Act (FinSA): clear warnings about volatility and a check that the product suits the client.
What we do not know yet. The release has no fund name, issuer or launch date. So you cannot buy it today, and the fee and listing venue come later.
