O que aconteceu

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) published its weekly report on November 4. In the week to October 30, commercial crude stocks fell 0.9 million barrels to 409.8 million, 4% below the five-year average. Total commercial oil and fuel stocks fell 8.2 million barrels.

Por que importa para você

Stocks are the cushion against supply shocks. Diesel and heating oil stocks are 13% below normal for this time of year, with winter close. A thinner cushion makes fuel prices react more to news.

O que conferir e observar

Watch next week's EIA report and diesel prices at the pump. On report day Brent traded near $100.71 a barrel, per OilPrice.com. This is an overview, not investment advice.

Prices. Per OilPrice.com, on the morning of November 4 in New York, Brent was near $100.71 a barrel, down 2.8% on the day, and WTI near $93.30. The EIA report itself does not explain that day's price move, so we do not link the drop to the stock data.

What we don't know. Whether diesel stocks keep falling into winter. How fast refineries can raise distillate output. How stocks change if demand abroad stays high.
