What happened
On 27 October Ripple and Robinhood announced a strategic partnership. Ripple's stablecoin, RLUSD, is already live on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood, and is expected in the Robinhood app later this year. Robinhood shares rose about 3% the same day.
Why it matters to you
A stablecoin is a digital token pegged to the dollar. If you use Robinhood, the app will get one more such token once the launch happens. For the company it is also a way to settle trades with institutional clients.
What to check and watch
Watch the RLUSD launch in the app and Robinhood's third-quarter report, due after the market close on 27 October. This is not advice to buy or sell.
What happened. On 27 October 2026 Ripple and Robinhood announced a strategic partnership. Ripple describes it as a single entry point to its infrastructure across stablecoins, institutional markets and treasury management. That is from Ripple's press release, and Barron's and Investing.com report the same.
What happens to RLUSD. It is Ripple's stablecoin, launched in December 2024. It is already live on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood. It is expected in the Robinhood app later this year. For institutional settlement, Robinhood will use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), through the institutional business of Bitstamp by Robinhood. Per Ripple, RLUSD's market capitalization has grown to more than $2.4 billion.
Treasury and financing. Robinhood will integrate Ripple Treasury for its global operations: cash and liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, payments, risk management and intercompany netting. Ripple Prime provides Bitstamp by Robinhood with lending and margin financing across roughly 20 digital assets. Ripple Prime clients get access to trade spot on Bitstamp, and later this year Ripple Prime will support perpetual futures trading there.
What the sides say. Ripple President Monica Long tied the deal to growing institutional demand for solutions that support both customer-facing offerings and core financial operations. Johann Kerbrat, SVP and GM of Robinhood Crypto and International, listed what Bitstamp and Robinhood get: RLUSD for institutional settlement, Ripple Treasury for their own operations and Ripple Prime for financing.
Market and context. Per Ripple, total stablecoin supply exceeds $300 billion, and Robinhood serves 28.6 million funded customers globally. Per MoneyCheck, HOOD shares rose about 3% on Tuesday to around $95, but are still down about 15% so far in 2026. The third-quarter report comes after the market close. By the same account, Robinhood's crypto revenue in the second quarter fell 38% from a year earlier to $100 million.
What is not known. We do not know exactly when RLUSD arrives in the app, what the financial terms of the deal are (the release gives none), or how the shares close the day. The rise came after the news, but that does not prove the news caused it. This is not advice to buy or sell.
