What happened
Datadog (NASDAQ: DDOG) reported Q3 2026 results on November 4. Revenue was $1.20 billion, up 35% on the year. Non-GAAP earnings per share were $0.81. But its Q4 revenue outlook of $1.19 to $1.20 billion was seen as in line, and the stock fell about 18% in premarket trading.
Why it matters to you
This is how markets work: a price moves on whether results beat expectations, not on whether they are good. If you hold DDOG directly, through a fund or in a pension plan, you saw this jump in your portfolio. The drop does not mean the business broke. Revenue is growing 35%.
What to check and watch
Check where the session closes: premarket numbers differ from the final move. Watch the count of big customers ($100,000 or more a year) and management comments on usage. This is an overview, not advice to buy or sell.

What happened. Datadog sells a service that monitors how software and servers run at companies. On November 4, 2026 it published results for the third quarter, which ended September 30. Revenue was $1.20 billion, 35% more than a year ago. Non-GAAP earnings per share were $0.81. Operating cash flow was $290 million and free cash flow $251 million.
Why the stock fell. Markets look ahead. The company guided Q4 revenue to between $1.19 billion and $1.20 billion. Per Seeking Alpha, the top of that range matched analyst estimates. For a stock priced for fast growth, that was not enough. The full-year 2026 outlook was the other way: $4.515 to $4.525 billion, against an analyst estimate of $4.47 billion.
How big the drop was. Seeking Alpha says shares fell about 18% in premarket trading on Wednesday. StockStory on Yahoo Finance, at about the same hour, says 16.1% and a price of $185.08. The figures differ because premarket prices move fast. The final move for the day may be different, so we say "about".
What about customers. Datadog has about 4,860 customers paying $100,000 or more a year, up 20% from about 4,060 a year ago. StockStory says that is 140 more than in the prior quarter and links it to fewer big new contracts. That is the outlet's reading, not the company's words.
What is planned. For Q4, Datadog expects non-GAAP operating income of $280 to $290 million. It also introduced Scout 1.0, its first specialized AI model for investigating production issues.
