What happened

Google opened Playground, an experimental platform where games are made with text prompts, no coding. You can change physics, rules, characters and environments, then keep the game private, share a link or publish it to a gallery.

Why it matters to you

If you have a mini-game idea for friends or your community, you can test it in an evening without coding. Games run in the browser on a phone or laptop.

What to check and watch

Access is US only and 18+. How much you can create depends on your Google AI subscription; the announcement does not spell out the tiers.

See what it can do

Playground works like a chat: describe the game, the service builds it, then refine details with new prompts. Google calls it an early experiment, so features and rules will change.

Finished games can be shared by link or published to the Playground Explore gallery. Every published game goes through a safety screening. Multiplayer and leaderboards exist in select genres only.

Google also plans a Unity Spark integration. It is in testing with a closed beta coming; no dates were given.

The main limit for now is location and age: only users in the US aged 18+ can create games.
